With health comes balance...with balance comes health...
Philosophy and Goal
My philosophy is that if we feel balanced in our emotions, thoughts, physical movement and food, our body's should be able to care for themselves. However; things happen, such as injury (pain), illnesses, surgery, hormones, child birth, temporary sedentary lifestyle, stress and fatigue and the body loses that balance and needs some extra help to "re-set". We all require this from time to time regardless of what we do or how healthy we are.
My main goal is to help patients feel as healthy, strong and balanced as possible through treatment modalities such as acupuncture, myofascial decompression (cupping), gua sha (scraping), Tui Na (Qi disharmony treatment), RIT (regeneration injection therapies), nutritional counselling and herbal suggestions (both Eastern and Western). I am especially interested in assisting with pain reduction. With pain comes many other side effects. It is NOT normal to live in pain and you should not have to spend your days that way. With my years of experience working along side of Masters of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, MD's, Nurses, Psychologists, Pharmacists, Chiropractors and Massage Therapists successfully, I believe that I can help you reach your personal health goal. I offer a friendly and professional service at West Winds Acupuncture here in beautiful Gibsons, British Columbia.
"Health is the greatest possesion".
- Lao Tzu
Acupuncture is a very old type of Complimentary Heath care therapy derived from Chinese Medicine in which very fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body with the purpose of a treatment or for prevention. Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that your personal energy or "life force/electricity" flows through the bodies energy channels, this life force is called Qi.
Who can benefit from acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine? The answer is everyone, in one way or another can benefit from acupuncture and TCM.
Some things that acupuncture and TCM can assist you with:
Feeling strong, healthy and balanced in your mind and body. Muscle, joint, tendon and bone pain,
arthritis, MS (symptoms),
Cancer (during and post treatment symptoms),
Insomnia, depression, anxiety, stress, weight management, Pre and post surgery, muscle weakness, PMS, Menopause, Pregnancy and post partum, Headaches, tinnitus, allergies, chronic sinusitis, cough, congestion, acid reflux, low immunity, IBS, chrones, UC, constipation, diarrhea, fibromyalgia, TMJ, post stroke (early within 5 months especially)
and much more...
Feel skittish or uneasy about the needles, NO PROBLEM, ask me about Tuina therapy, Acupressure, Gua-sha, and Myofascial decompression no needles involved.
MYOFASCIAL DECOMPRESSION (cupping)
Myofascial decompression helps the body to "loosen up", decreasing tension from tight, tender and painful muscle areas especially around the neck, the shoulders, the upper, middle, lower back and the legs. This works by lifting the skin up through a "sucking up" motion into a cup. This forces the fascia to lift up in hopes that when it is released and lays back down it will "re-organize" itself. This technique has been successfully used since at least the 15th century.
